President Donald Trump’s affinity for outlandish behavior is beyond well-documented at this point. Odds are, at any given moment, you can find some current or just concluded spectacle of egomania that he’s engaged in. This weekend, prominent progressive Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) denounced the most recent aspect of that behavior that has included racism. She called his behavior “deliberate, atrocious, targeted,” singling out the insults that Trump has hurled at House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) who is Jewish. Trump has denounced Schiff as “shifty” a headspinning number of times in recent days — and the stereotype of Jews as “shifty” is so pervasive it doesn’t even need references.
‘Understand that Trump is engaged in deliberate, atrocious, targeted antisemitism towards Chairman Schiff. Then ask yourself why no one cares to denounce it – esp when his accusation of it towards others drove full news cycles earlier this year. It’s wrong. It’s harmful. And his bigotry is reflective of the white supremacist base he relies on for political gain.’

The accusations of anti-Semitism towards people other than Trump that she’s referring to include definite “whole news cycles” consisting of people losing their minds over Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D) supposedly resorting to anti-Semitism. She’d denounced the culture of pay-for-play involved in advocacy on behalf of the right-wing government of Israel, but after being confronted, she promptly apologized for using language that could extend to anti-Semitism against Jews as a whole.
To suggest Trump might apologize is laughable. Has he ever?
Ocasio-Cortez linked in her posts to an article from Mehdi Hasan, who wrote about the president’s recent history of resorting to singling out opponents on the basis of their race or ethnicity.
As he noted, there are literally hundreds of Democrats at this point who publicly support an impeachment inquiry against Trump, including plenty of quite high-profile ones, but at one point when deriding the process’s supporters as “savages,” Trump only singled out two Jews and a woman of color.
Late last month, he tweeted:
‘Can you imagine if these Do Nothing Democrat Savages, people like Nadler, Schiff, AOC Plus 3, and many more, had a Republican Party who would have done to Obama what the Do Nothings are doing to me. Oh well, maybe next time!’
First of all — Donald Trump himself led a charge suggesting Obama wasn’t even born in the United States.
Secondly — Trump’s routine resort to racism is glaringly obvious.
