The president knows he isn’t getting out of this one. He’s gotten away with so much in his life that he naturally assumed he could commit crimes as president and no one would bat an eye. Well eyes have been batted. Millions of them. Americans are not going to tolerate politicians who sit on their thumbs while Trump destroys the nation and the environment.
Now that those politicians have realized they have no choice but to begin impeachment proceedings to get Donald J. Trump as far away from Washington D.C. that he will soon be a faint memory. An ink blot in history books.
All that stress has led Trump to panic on Twitter since word of the Ukraine scandal broke, and Saturday afternoon, Trump finally placed blame for making that phone call.
But of course, he’s placing the blame on outgoing cabinet member Rick Perry.
This is what Trump said to his fellow Republicans about Perry:
“not a lot of people know this but, I didn’t even want to make the call.”
“The only reason I made the call was because Rick asked me to. Something about an LNG [liquified natural gas] plant.”
Perry, who will be leaving the administration this fall for unexplained reasons, was implicated in the scandal, but says he did not tell the president to try to extort Ukraine for dirt on Joe Biden. Perry’s camp released the following statement about Trump blaming him for the call:
“Secretary Perry absolutely supported and encouraged the president to speak to the new president of Ukraine to discuss matters related to their energy security and economic development.”
The president is likely just talking in circles again. He thinks that, as long as he talks, he’s convincing people that he knows what he’s talking about. But when he pretends that he’s in trouble for calling Ukraine rather than attempting quid pro quo, he shows the world that he’s about as lost as it gets.
According to Axios:
Trump made these comments during a conference call with House members on Friday, according to 3 sources on the call.
