The president has done a lot of dumb things in his short time in the White House, but one of the biggest numbskull moves was when he publicly requested China investigate his 2020 rival after being busted trying to extort Ukraine into doing the same thing. Trump really thought it was okay to rig the 2020 election in his favor by any means necessary, but the past week has taught him that that is just not the case.
Now, the nation of China has formally rejected Trump’s request to dig up dirt on Joe Biden; a move that will surely make Trump lose his marbles. Foreign ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said this to the South China Morning Post:
“China has long pursued the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries.”
“We have no intention of intervening in the domestic affairs of the United States. Our position is consistent and clear.”
It was last week that Trump said this in the press:
“[Ukraine] should investigate the Bidens, because how does a company that’s newly formed, and all these companies if you look at – and, by the way, likewise China should start an investigation into the Bidens.”
Geng said this about the trade disagreements that preceded the strange request from President Trump:
“The nature of China-US economic and trade relation is mutually beneficial. It is normal that disputes exist. But we have to stick to the basis of mutual respect, equal and mutual benefit in the process of resolving the dispute. I am afraid it is not a correct attitude if someone always wants to maintain an upper hand”.
