It’s no secret that President Donald Trump and his cronies deeply resent Hillary Clinton. With the advent of new rumors that she was considering running for president in 2020, which would be her third time in the ring, Trump and his pals at places like Fox News have again collectively lost their minds over the public figure, although it’s worth noting there’s no apparent concrete indication from the potential candidate herself that she’s even considered running. Still, Fox News aired a segment this week about anti-Hillary sentiment, and they broadcast a screenshot of a tweet from a spam account with the username “Hugh Janus.” Read the name aloud and you’ll see one of the issues.
Media Matters for America’s Natalie Martinez wrote alongside a screenshot of the moment that the account was featured on Fox:
‘Two free tips for Fox News: 1. Don’t amplify accounts with clearly spammy handle names 2. Maybe read the screen name aloud before you broadcast it to the world’
Besides the issue of the username, the account itself has a “handle” that includes a string of numbers, whose presence despite their apparent randomness suggests that the account’s background is murky at best. Who includes a random string of numbers in their username and then proceeds to tweet seemingly entirely about politics?
The tweet itself read, with no real basis in reality, speaking of Clinton:
‘She so desperately wants to tun again but she wants America to beg her. That’s not happening.’
Again, there’s no actual evidence for this.
As rumors to that effect spread across the internet in recent days anyway, Trump weighed in — because of course he did.
On Wednesday, he tweeted:
‘I think that Crooked Hillary Clinton should enter the race to try and steal it away from Uber Left Elizabeth Warren. Only one condition. The Crooked one must explain all of her high crimes and misdemeanors including how & why she deleted 33,000 Emails AFTER getting “C” Subpoena!’
That has been explained ad nauseum. The emails were deleted by a technician as part of routine account maintenance. There is no conspiracy.
Clinton responded to the above tweet:
‘Don’t tempt me. Do your job.’
In reality, the Democratic presidential primary is currently led by former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), who as of Wednesday has a small lead in the RealClearPolitics average of polling.
