Everyone in Donald Trump’s administration should be worrying just what kind of trouble The Donald has gotten them into because so many of his officials and associates have been indicted or investigated or both, and some are even currently in prison for crimes they committed with the now president of the United States.
Mike Pompeo had so many red flags that literally no one will be to blame for his downfall but him. It’s not like this is Trump’s first year in office and no one knows what will happen. This is year three and we now know damn well that the best interests of the nation are not a priority of the current POTUS.
On Saturday, diplomat Phillip Reeker testified before the House, and what it’s believed he said could send Pompeo to prison where he can bunk with Michael Cohen. The details of the testimony cannot be disclosed to the public until all testimonies are given, but according to the Wall Street Journal, Reeker had some pretty damning testimony to give:
A senior State Department official was to tell House impeachment investigators Saturday that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other top officials stymied a show of solidarity for the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine after President Trump had her removed, according to a person familiar with his planned closed-door testimony.
That information has Trump’s White House on eggshells. The place has to be tense, right? Can you imagine the whispers? It’s not like common workplace stuff like “Oh, did you hear Jenny is getting a boob-job?” No, it’s “How many of us will do jail-time do you think?”
The report continued:
Philip Reeker, the acting assistant secretary of state in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, was also present for a White House interagency meeting during which a Department of Defense official raised concerns about a decision by the White House to hold military aid to Ukraine, the person familiar with the testimony said.
Reeker showed up on Capitol Hill Saturday morning despite the president’s attempts to stop any and all testimony actions after informing practically everyone subpoenaed that they should illegally ignore the request and break the law because he wants them to.
So far, countless people have done just that, either unwittingly or just arrogantly following the doomed president into the shackled future he’s made for himself.
WSJ states that:
The House Intelligence Committee subpoenaed Mr. Reeker’s testimony after the State Department directed him not to appear for his scheduled Saturday deposition, according to an official working on the impeachment inquiry. The official said the State Department was also attempting to limit any testimony that did occur, and that Mr. Reeker was complying with the subpoena and answering questions.
Whatever was said, we can’t wait for the transcripts to be made public, but of course Republicans will pretend that the highly damaging content is, in no way, indicative of criminal activity on the president’s part.
That’s seriously what’s going to happen.
Rep. Stephen Lynch has confessed that Democrats were surprised at how much information they were getting from Reeker, saying that Reeker is:
“..being helpful in some respects, he is corroborating previous witnesses and their testimony. It’s a much richer reservoir of information that we originally expected.”
Mark Meadows (R-NC) could be counted on, however, for his own version of reality. Meadows played-down the helpfulness of Reeker’s testimony. He said this:
“Ukraine was one of dozens of countries that he oversees, so to the extent he was copied on an email here or there, that’s pretty much his involvement.”
