The impeachment hearings have been moving full force in the SCIF (Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility) room deep below Congress. They have even moved to weekend testimony just to meed their no-nonsense deadline. House Intelligence Committee Chair Representative Adam Schiff (D-CA) broke important news.
He tweeted that a grand jury had ruled that the House “has a right to Muller grand jury materials”. Donald Trump and his Attorney General William Burr had been withholding this important evidence:
‘Breaking News: The House is legally engaged in an impeachment inquiry, a judge found, ruling that lawmakers can see some of Robert Mueller’s secret evidence.’
Schiff was referring to “The White House’s Stonewall” crumbling before Trump’s eyes and notied that “no one is above the law:”
‘The White House’s stonewall continues to crumble. A judge just confirmed the House has a right to Mueller grand jury materials. No one is above the law.’
Trump has tried to quash the House of Representative’s power to perform oversight of the Executive Branch. POTUS has insisted that not one individual, past and present employees, could testify. He also stated that not one document could go to the House during their investigation.
This stonewalling was a tactic that no one president has tried.
