The man who married Ivanka Trump has proven himself to be a great deal like her father. They even wanted to date the same person. It makes sense, then, that the Kushner would defend his father-in-law. Of course, there are differences. Donald Trump blows hot and hard. On the other hand, Jared Kushner rarely speaks at all, so this was a big surprise.
There has been a decreasingly small pool for the president to choose from to defend him in the press. Therefore, it fell to the virtually silent one to defend 45. At the same time, a career, Purple Heart recipient who has spent his life serving the people testified during an impeachment inquiry.
POTUS’ senior adviser said in an exclusive Axios interview with Israel’s Channel 13 News that the president’s:
‘[R]ecord of accomplishments is unimpeachable” — and that “he hasn’t done anything wrong.’
That would not matter so much except that Ivanka’s husband was part of the White House impeachment strategy team. He said that the Democrats had been trying to impeach his father-in-law since he took office. Kushner said the “people are sick and tired of it:”
‘The best thing going for the president is that he hasn’t done anything wrong, and, at this point, they investigated him over and over and over again. I think the American people are sick and tired of it.’
The first son-in-law claimed Trump had a great number of accomplishments. Those included reducing pharmaceutical prices, creating jobs, and the president’s trade deals.
Then, Kushner went after the Democrats in Congress:
‘If they want to play silly games we will obviously deal with that in an appropriate manner but we are not going to let that distract us as an administration.’
The commander-in-chief has believed that the “historically low unemployment and high stock gains” would protect him from being impeached in the House. The problem with that was, of course, Trump still has to make it through the remaining 14 months without incident. Should the economy lose its equilibrium, the president thought he could blame the Democrats and their impeachment inquiry.
Apparently, Kushner was very confident during the interview, but Trump has told close associates that he has been worrying that impeachment will stain his place in history. Conversely, the president does believe being impeached would spur his voters to go to the polls in 2020.
Ironically, Ivanka’s husband has been at a similar place before. His own father hired a prostitute to seduce his own brother-in-law, video-taped their encounter, then sent the tape to his sister. That ended him up in federal prison. Jared was in college at the time, but he drove to visit his father regularly until he was released. His father turned the reins of the entire Kushner dynasty over to his eldest son while he was in prison. Jared was 26-year-old.
