Today’s impeachment resolution against Donald Trump passed overwhelmingly in the House of Representatives on a party-line vote. Trump just might be in the Oval Office throwing the biggest tantrum of his life. Could it be possible this is the first time anyone has successfully told him “no” — especially a strong woman? Check out what happened.
POTUS wound up his Republican minions to fight against impeachment, and they delivered. Even so, the wheels of justice continued to turn along. No matter how the Dems tried to meet the GOP’s demands, the White House called the proceedings:
‘The Greatest Witch Hunt In American History!’
After the impeachment proceedings’ vote, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham released a fiery statement. According to NBC News, it read:
‘The President has done nothing wrong, and the Democrats know it. Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats’ unhinged obsession with this illegitimate impeachment proceeding does not hurt President Trump; it hurts the American people. The Democrats are choosing every day to waste time on a sham impeachment — a blatantly partisan attempt to destroy the President.’
Grisham continued blasting the vote as “unacceptable,” “unfair, lacking “due process,” and “un-American:”
‘‘With today’s vote, Speaker Pelosi and the Democrats have done nothing more than enshrine unacceptable violations of due process into House rules. Speaker Pelosi, Chairman Schiff and the Democrats conducted secret, behind-closed-door meetings, blocked the Administration from participating, and have now voted to authorize a second round of hearings that still fails to provide any due process whatsoever to the Administration. The Democrats want to render a verdict without giving the Administration a chance to mount a defense. That is unfair, unconstitutional, and fundamentally un-American.’
The reason for the impeachment of Donald Trump has been the debacle over him trying to coerce the new Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into digging up dirt about Joe Biden, regardless of the evidence to the contrary. The U.S. commander-in-chief froze the newly democratic nation’s direly-needed $391 million in military aid and a meeting at the White House until the Ukrainian met his demands.
At this time, Trump appeared to be lacking a war room and any sort of strategy for dealing with impeachment. The president has continued usurping power among his closest advisers, even including his acting Chief of Staff, Mick Mulvaney. He has said that he did not need a chief of staff. Certainly, Mulvaney has just let Trump do as he pleased.
The president has long believed he was his own best communications director, and many of the top White House positions have an acting leader. Permanent heads require Senate approval. He also installed a Roy Cohnesque attorney general, William Barr, to play defense no matter POTUS’ game. Barr said he believed Trump could do whatever he wanted without investigation or punishment while in office. It appeared that the president took him at his word.
