Mr. Trump seems to be getting booed a lot lately especially in light of his possible impeachment. On October 25, he was greeted with boos as he attended Game 5 of the World Series in the nation’s capital.
On Monday, it was reported that the Republican National Committee shelled out $60,000 for Trump and his associates to attend a UFC match at Madison Garden over the weekend where he was booed.
The RNC had already spent $14,000 for Trump’s suite during World Series Game 5 between the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros.
The Washington Post reported:
‘The price included the ringside seats for Trump and his guests, catering and security, one of the officials said. The president’s guests included House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) and Reps. Mark Meadows (R-NC) and Peter T. King (R-NY), all Republican allies, along with his two adults sons.’
The ridiculous $60,000 price tag included all tickets, catering, and security. The fact that Trump’s group was near the front likely caused the tickets to be on the higher end although the UFC could have given the RNC a deal.
According to the RNC, they paid for tickets because Trump attended it. Members of the U.S. House of Representatives are only allowed to take free tickets for sporting events if it’s a fundraiser and this event obviously was not. They will be likely be forced to pay back the RNC or they could be hit with ethics violations.
Trump is expected to attend the Louisiana State and Alabama game over the weekend. There hasn’t been an explanation as to why Mr. Trump doesn’t pay for his own tickets to sporting events.
