Donald Trump was the first sitting president to kick off the New York City Veterans parade. Even though the president was welcomed with loud boos, he and First Lady Melania Trump walked to the stage, where POTUS gave his speech. This is what he said.

The White House released the commander-in-chief’s speech in its entirety. In this portion, Trump said:

‘Today, our Nation comes together to salute the veterans of the United States Armed Forces.’

CBS News reported that the president said:

‘To each veteran of the war, the glory of your deeds will only grow greater with time. This city is graced with your presence. This nation is forever in your debt and we thank you all.

‘He noted the presence of veterans from World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and the war on terror. ‘

Trump continued:

‘You are the reason our hearts swell with pride, our foes tremble with fear, and our nation thrives in freedom.

‘It is very fitting that the Veterans Day Parade begin right here in New York City. Since the earliest days of our nation, New York has exemplified the American spirit, and has been at the heart of our nation’s story of daring and defiance.’

There was the middle segment of his speech that began with:

‘The First Lady and I have come to express the everlasting love and loyalty of 327 million Americans.’

In the final round, Trump said that “we share our Nation’s deepest praise and gratitude:”

‘On November 11, we share “our Nation’s deepest praise and gratitude to every citizen who has worn the uniform of the American Army, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard, and Marines.’

The president’s speech was just a few days after a New York judge found that Trump had to donate $2 million to charitable organizations. This was the result of the family using POTUS family foundation as a piggy bank for personal and campaign needs. The family also allegedly spent the funds he raised to benefit veterans on his own political needs.

Trump’s Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie was asked for a response. He said:

‘I have no reaction to that [the president’s record on veterans’ issues] speaks for itself.’
