Capitol Hill is a rough beat for political journalists, especially now. Many of them haunt the endless halls above ground and in the bowels of the austere buildings — hoping to catch a comment from fast-moving legislators. They arrive well before the impeachment hearings that began at 9:00 a.m.(EST) and will be there long after it is dark. There is one welcome reprieve, though, perhaps the most important one that unites Democrats and Republicans.
BBC TV news editor Michael Gravesande captured a video of a mystery woman chugging her coffee behind a witness ready to testify in the House’s impeachment hearings, Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman. Coffee has been a reporter’s staple and allows them to keep running when their batteries are dead.
Gravesande had some fun with it. He asked:

Slate writer Heather Schwedel discovered the identity of the coffee-loving reporter. She is McClatchy congressional reporter Emma Dumain, according to The Huffington Post. She bought her coffee from the Union Station Pret. The reason was she went there to buy the chain’s oatmeal, and that was more important than the quality of the coffee.
She told The Slate magazine:
‘I really wanted to get every last drop. It necessitated a dramatic tilt of the tall narrow cup. But no, I don’t typically drink coffee in a dramatic fashion like that.’
She has a 19-month-old toddler and had to be up before 6:00 a.m. to be a mother. She noted:
‘I’m just a tired workin’ mom trying to do it all.’
