Devin Nunes has had a rough go of it lately. He simply will not stop getting himself into situations where he comes out looking like a loser. Some of you may be asking, “but how could he come out looking any differently,” to which I guess I would reply, “he can’t.” Nunes should probably just retire now because after suing an imaginary cow on Twitter, he’s only gone downhill.
Not only was Nunes implicated in Trump’s Ukraine extortion scheme during the impeachment proceedings he’s been doing his best to disrupt and discredit, but he is now being mocked by the newspaper he’s suing, which will probably lead to another lawsuit, judging by how Nunes works.
Nunes’ hometown newspaper, The Fresno Bee, just fired shot at Nunes for his ridiculous courtroom antics and massive ego. The paper got down on Nunes for suing the Twitter account Devin Nunes’ Cow seemingly just because they make fun of him, saying, who “would believe that Devin Nunes’ cow actually has a Twitter account, or that the hyperbole, satire and cow-related jokes it posts are serious facts.”
The publication continues:
“It is self-evident that cows are domesticated livestock animals and do not have the intelligence, language, or opposable digits needed to operate a Twitter account,” the filing continued. “Defendant ‘Devin Nunes’ Mom’ likewise posts satirical patronizing, nagging, mothering comments which ostensibly treat Mr. Nunes as a misbehaving child.”
Nunes is doing nothing with these lawsuits but getting accounts like the parody cow account massive amounts of followers. For instance, before the lawsuit, the cow account only had around 1k followers. Now, however, after media attention over the lawsuit, the account has nearly 700k followers.
The Fresno Bee also touched on Nunes’ lawsuit against Esquire, saying:
“Given the frivolous nature of Nunes’ lawsuits, one can easily draw the conclusion that he’s trying to chill free speech by miring his critics in expensive legal proceedings. If that’s the idea, it’s not working. Twitter accounts continue to mock him and the press continues to report on his increasingly grim situation.”
Probably the most troublesome of all of his lawsuits is the one Nunes just put out against CNN and The Daily Beast for doing nothing but reporting the news. Nunes was upset when news broke that Giuliani associate Lev Parnas was willing to testify about Nunes’ $50,000 trip to Vienna for the sole purpose of getting dirt on Biden for Trump.
“Given the seriousness of these matters, perhaps it’s time for Nunes to abandon his frivolous lawsuit hobby and direct his lawyers’ attention elsewhere.”
