This Thursday, following a public impeachment inquiry hearing held by the House Judiciary Committee that featured Constitutional law scholars discussing the legal basis for impeaching President Donald Trump, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced that the House would be moving forward with formal articles of impeachment. As those developments rapidly rolled out, the presidential campaign of former Vice President Joe Biden released a rapid response ad late Wednesday that lets Trump’s behavior do much of the talking. The ad covers the now multiple times that world leaders have mocked Trump on camera and reminds Americans that they have a chance to assuredly get the global laughingstock out of office come 2020.
The occasions included in the video include the recent viral moment at this past week’s NATO summit, where leaders like the Canadian Prime Minister, French President, and others mocked Trump for his extended, antagonistic question-and-answer sessions with reporters. It also includes the laughter that erupted after Trump declared at the United Nations that he’d done more for the U.S. than almost any other president in history, which he’s repeated numerous times since then, no matter the mockery.
As the ad closes, Biden says:
‘The world sees Trump for what he is. Insincere, ill-informed, corrupt, dangerously incompetent, and incapable in my view of world leadership. And if we give Donald Trump four more years. And we will have great difficulty of ever being able to recover America’s standing in the world, and our capacity to bring nations together.’

The ad has attracted a lot of praise for how it gets right to the point of Trump’s dangerously volatile behavior that far too many Republicans seem eager to accept in the name of political expediency.
MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace said:
‘This is a really really good political ad – gets beyond the laughing and makes a deadly serious point about Trump’s instability and isolation.’
Former Labor Secretary and current political activist Robert Reich added:
‘Excellent ad. It (1) tells the truth, (2) shows Trump as a dangerous narcissistic fool, exactly how the world sees him, (3) focuses on the central issue of competence, and (4) will drive Trump crazy.’
Journalist Tommy Vietor added:
‘This is the best anti-Trump ad I’ve seen yet. Don’t be fooled by the MAGA spin that his base loves this, they’re draining the swamp, blah blah. Most Americans, especially swing voters, don’t want to be embarrassed by their President. They want America to be respected.’
And finally, Virginia state legislator Scott Surovell noted some of the ad’s implications, writing on Twitter:
‘Today, @JoeBiden killed it. When McConnell starts seeing the poll numbers for his 23 incumbents and 11 challengers this winter, the dam is going to break.’
