Donald Trump was fuming at FBI Director Christopher Wray so heatedly, that the hate waves were visible. After two years of investigation and hundreds of interviews, inspector general (IG) for the Department of Justice (DOJ) finally released his report on how the FBI handled itself in the Russia investigation. Then, Wray did the unthinkable — he disagreed with the big man in the White House.

The president tweeted that whatever IG report Wray read “sure wasn’t the one given to me.” Then, POTUS managed insult and compliment the FBI in one sentence:

‘I don’t know what report current Director of the FBI Christopher Wray was reading, but it sure wasn’t the one given to me. With that kind of attitude, he will never be able to fix the FBI, which is badly broken despite having some of the greatest men & women working there!’

Just one day after nspector General (IG), Michael Horowitz released his 435-page report, Trump went after Wray with both guns pointed:

‘I don’t know what report current Director of the FBI Christopher Wray was reading, but it sure wasn’t the one given to me. With that kind of attitude, he will never be able to fix the FBI, which is badly broken despite having some of the greatest men & women working there!’

This was the report that took an indepth look at how the Bureau performed its investigation into Russia’s cyberattack on the 2016 presidential election. There was nothing about Moscow’s continuing attack on America’s next presidential election.

Horowitz did find some serious issues with the way the FBI performed its FISA surveillance of the Trump campaign’s adviser Carter Page. The report found inaccurages and critical omissions.

The most important find in the investigation, though, was that the FBI members had not been politically biased. Director Wray replaced the previous director James Comey in 2017. He was nominated by Donald Trump.

The Bureau’s director also said it was:

‘[I]mportant that the inspector general found that, in this particular instance, the investigation was opened with appropriate predication and authorization.’

Wray sent the DOJ inspector general a letter indicating the 40-plus “corrective steps” that he had already ordered to deal with the IG’s recommendations.

‘Accordingly, the FBI accepts the Report’s findings and embraces the need for thoughtful, meaningful remedial action. Because our credibility and brand are central to fulfilling our mission, we are also making improvements beyond those recommended.’

Twitter world blew up. Take a look at these very interesting responses below:
