In case you were wondering — President Donald Trump’s priorities are still most definitely heavily skewed. This Thursday, he took to Twitter to complain about TIME magazine naming teenage climate activist Greta Thunberg as their person of the year, an honor that he’s received — and complained about — before. He said that Thunberg was too “angry” — which just amazingly suggests that Trump has completely dispensed with self-awareness. His Twitter feed and public appearances are packed to the brim with angry rants. Thunberg responded by putting Trump’s mocking description of her in her Twitter bio.
At present, her bio jokingly describes her as:
‘A teenager working on her anger management problem. Currently chilling and watching a good old fashioned movie with a friend.’
That’s lifted straight from Trump’s bizarre meltdown. Trump — who has actually publicly mocked Thunberg before — called TIME’s award “so ridiculous,” adding:
‘Greta must work on her Anger Management problem, then go to a good old fashioned movie with a friend! Chill Greta, Chill!’
Again — this is the guy who rants for hours on end as a defining feature of his public appearances. He rambles on about supposedly scary immigrants, supposedly scheming deep state Democratic blah blah blah operatives, and pulls conspiracy theories like millions of fraudulent 2016 votes right out of thin air — and yet, Trump would like us to believe that Thunberg is the one with an “anger management problem.” At least she’s tethered to reality!
Apparently, she doesn’t mind getting mocked by Trump if that’s a side effect of getting her message out.
In her TIME profile, she shares:
‘We can’t just continue living as if there was no tomorrow, because there is a tomorrow. That is all we are saying.’
And that’s what keeps sending the perpetually personal entitlement-driven Trump up the metaphorical wall. He’s complained about Thunberg before — after she spoke at a United Nations event, he mockingly said that she “seems like a very happy young girl looking forward to a bright and wonderful future.” Imagine using the privilege associated with being president of the United States to whine about a teenage girl advocating for environmental protection. Talk about a fragile ego.
