People wonder what happened to Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) after his best friend in the Senate, John McCain III, died. Graham appeared to go over to the dark side and ended up as a professional lackey for Donald Trump. Talk about a role reversal.
All of a sudden he dropped the wrapped in the flag, congenial senator act. He transformed himself into the erratic president’s right-hand man. In the Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh hearings, he even snarled.
Graham wanted a fast Senate impeachment trial, claiming he has already decided to acquit the president. He claimed that he did not need to even go to the hearing. He had already decided.
Graham appeared on CBS’s Face the Nation airing Sunday:
‘I think what’s best for the country is to get this thing over with, I [have] clearly made up my mind, I’m not trying to hide the fact that I have disdain for the accusations in the process, so I don’t need any witnesses. I am ready to vote on the underlying articles, I don’t really need to hear a lot of witnesses.’
Graham even invited the president’s TV attorney Senator Rudy Giuliani to come on camera. He noted that Giuliani could appear before his committee, the Senate Judiciary Committee. The senator said that Giuliani should testify before his committee, but the visit should remain very separate from his testimony from any other testimony.
The House is expected to vote on articles of impeachment after they pass the House Judiciary Committee in a party-line vote.
However, Trump is expected to be acquitted in the Republican-controlled Senate:
