Trump Spazzes Out Monday With Bizarre New GOP Nickname

This week, Donald Trump is set to become the third U.S. president to be impeached when the House votes on articles of impeachment charging him with abuse of power and obstruction of Congress over the Ukraine scandal and its aftermath. As that vote gets closer, Trump is still trying to insist that he’s completely innocent, no matter the ample evidence implicating him in the quid pro quo plot to get dirt on Democrats from Ukraine in exchange for military aid. This Monday, following the release of a report from the House Judiciary Committee outlining their case for impeachment, Trump spazzed out on Twitter with what came across as a bizarre new nickname for the GOP. Truly, this melodramatic posturing is all he’s got.

He tweeted:

‘READ THE TRANSCRIPTS! The Impeachment Hoax is the greatest con job in the history of American politics! The Fake News Media, and their partner, the Democrat Party, are working overtime to make life for the United Republican Party, and all it stands for, as difficult as possible!’

To be clear: the United States has faced serious, destabilizing crises like centuries of entrenched violent racism, a literal Civil War, multiple presidential assassinations and assassination attempts — and Trump, forever the egomaniac, freely insists that the duly proceeding, judicially-approved impeachment proceedings are the worst thing ever. That’s not an exaggeration — it’s what he said.

Despite his repeated calls for observers to read the transcripts, those transcripts do not exonerate Trump. He’s claimed that he was simply concerned about corruption when holding up military aid while pressuring Ukraine for dirt on the Bidens, but he never once mentions “corruption” in the record of a July phone conversation that he had with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He just mentions the Bidens.

Following Trump’s latest rant, tweets poured in including the phrase “United Republican Party,” which quickly shot up the list of Twitter’s trending topics.

Nebraska Republican state legislator John McCollister commented:

United Republican Party?” No There are Republicans ALL OVER the country who want you impeached. We don’t fall for some cult of personality. We’ve read the constitution.’

Yet, Trump still continues with his belligerent rants anyway.
