Merry Impeachmas! Many on Twitter are in the holiday spirit thanks to the scheduled Wednesday impeachment of President Donald Trump — but that does not include his son, Donald Trump Jr. Although he’s supposedly got a business to run, Trump Jr. spent some time Wednesday morning spouting off on Twitter about what a supposedly great job his dad is doing and how supposedly unhinged the Democrats are for pursuing investigations anyway. In light of the publicly available, clear evidence implicating his dad in a plot to get dirt on Democrats from Ukraine, Trump Jr. just sounds purposefully dense and desperate — to the point that he proudly touted a rally of “dozens” of people against impeachment. Just dozens.

In one post, he included a lengthy list of supposedly terrible things that Democrats have done, but it was just a feat of projection. For example, he noted supposed Democratic flippancy with accusations of treason — but his own dad has accused his own opponents of “treason” ad nauseum.

‘They protested his 2016 victory. Tried to rig the Electoral College. Objected to certifying the results. Spied on his transition. Boycotted his inauguration. Immediately started impeachment. Called him illegitimate. Falsely accused him of treason. And he’s still winning.’

By what metric exactly? Is it winning when you’re set to become only the third president in the entirety of U.S. history to be impeached while allies keep turning their backs on you and the economy only barely teeters above more catastrophic circumstances? Besides: since when were protests and objections (as opposed to the falsely alleged systematic attempt at rigging) illegal, or even wrong?

Trump Jr. tried to point to the supposed evidence for his claims of Democratic misconduct contained in already widely circulated texts between now former FBI officials Lisa Page and Peter Strzok, but there is no evidence of these personal, entirely unofficial communications reflecting any political bias effects on the Russia investigation. That was the Justice Department inspector general’s conclusion, but Trump Jr. doesn’t care.
He tweeted:
