The president is really itching for a war with Iran after repeated drone strikes have killed at least one Middle Eastern military leader. As of last night, it was believed a second drone kill hit an Iraqi leader. Trump has been bragging on Twitter about how this was all a measure to stop a war from happening.
Democrats have been scrambling to try and save the country from going into yet another war in the Middle East, but senator and former Vice Presidential candidate Tim Kaine has introduces a resolution that would effectively block the president from going to war.
BREAKING: Sen. Tim Kaine just introduced a resolution to block war with Iran
THIS IS BIG. The resolution is privileged, which means Republicans cannot block it from reaching the floor.

According to reports, the resolution is privileged, which means that Republicans cannot stop it from reaching the senate floor, but as Kaine sees it, there was no other way out.
Kaine said this to the media:
“For years I’ve been deeply concerned about President Trump stumbling into a war with Iran. We’re now at a boiling point and Congress must step in before Trump puts even more of our troops in harm’s way.”
The most forceful leaders in the Democratic Party in the effort to stop war with Iran appear to be (in no particular order):
Why doesn't Biden appear in this list? 🤔

“We owe it to our service members to have a debate and vote about whether or not it’s in our national interest to engage in another unnecessary war in the Middle East.”
Inbox: Today, Sen. Tim Kaine, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations and Armed Services Committees, introduced a war powers resolution to force a debate and vote in Congress "to prevent further escalation of hostilities with Iran."

Chuck Schumer also spoke out to the president to let him know that this war was not going to happen, saying:
“The president does not have the authority for a war with Iran,” Schumer said. “If he plans a large increase in troops and potential hostility over a longer time, the administration will require congressional approval and the approval of the American people.”
Sen. Tim Kaine offers war powers resolution “seeking that any hostilities with Iran must be explicitly authorized by a declaration of war or specific authorization for use of military force.” The measure is privileged, so the Senate will eventually have to vote on it

Trump said to his guests at Mar-a-Lago that this should have been done a long time ago, which begs the question, why did it take him three years if we were in such imminent danger?
“What the United States did yesterday should have been done long ago. We took action last night to stop a war. We did not take action to start a war.”
Not so fast, pal.
Check out Kaine’s tweet:
The US conducted airstrikes in Iraq over the objections of the Iraqi government. Now Iraqi protesters broke into the US Embassy. Trump’s malpractice in the region is making us less safe. Time for Congress to stop this foolish rush to war.
