Trump Republicans are doing whatever they can to keep The Donald in power, even at the cost of their own careers, which will inevitably be affected by the choices they make today. One such Republican is Mark Meadows, who is now being accused of jury tampering after threatening GOP’rs who challenge Trump.
Meadows said this Monday evening in an interview with CBS Evening News:
“I mean listen, I don’t want to speak for my Senate colleagues. But there are always political repercussions for every vote you take,” Meadows said. “There is no vote that is higher profile than this.”
“The question needs to be flipped. Where is a courageous Democrat who will actually look at the facts and vote in favor of not impeaching this president? I think the question is, and I understand we’re Republicans here, and I understand your question, but the question is always asked from the side of: ‘Will a Republican take this bold and courageous step to stand up to this president?’ My question is where is a Democrat who will actually look at the facts and not simply follow behindNancy Pelosi and Adam Schiff and Chuck Schumer, or their presidential candidates who are sitting in the jury pool, and follow them?”
New Trump crony Elise Stefanik is one of the younger people willing to sell their careers up the river if it means gaining a fanbase with middle America, AKA Hill-folk. Stefanik said this about the John Bolton debacle:
“I think this witness question is a very important one. Oftentimes, we’re asked over 50 percent of the American people want the us to call witness. That doesn’t just mean John Bolton. That means the whistleblower. That means Hunter Biden. And it really opens up challenges for the Democrats.”
Trump has faced backlash from a few Republicans since the Bolton news broke, including Republican Senator Ron Johnson, who says he knows Bolton is telling the truth, according to POLITICO reporter Kyle Cheney:
RON JOHNSON says “My guess is John Bolton tells the truth.” But he calls the leak “exquisite timing” and says he still wants to hear full WH case.

Senator Lisa Murkowski said this on Twitter:
(2/2) I’ve also said there is an appropriate time for us to evaluate whether we need additional information —that time is almost here. I look forward to the White House wrapping up presentation of its case.

Trump has flat-out denied ever telling John Bolton about an extortion plot, but Bolton’s reputation is pretty solid, and there’s nothing Trump can say or do to make him out to be a liar. This was Trump’s statement:
“I NEVER TOLD JOHN BOLTON THAT THE AID TO UKRAINE WAS TIED TO INVESTIGATIONS INTO DEMOCRATS, INCLUDING THE BIDENS. IN FACT, HE NEVER COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS AT THE TIME OF HIS VERY PUBLIC TERMINATION. IF JOHN BOLTON SAID THIS, IT WAS ONLY TO SELL A BOOK.”
“WITH THAT BEING SAID, THE TRANSCRIPTS OF MY CALLS WITH PRESIDENT ZELENSKY ARE ALL THE PROOF THAT IS NEEDED, IN ADDITION TO THE FACT THAT PRESIDENT ZELENSKY & THE FOREIGN MINISTER OF UKRAINE SAID THERE WAS NO PRESSURE AND NO PROBLEMS. ADDITIONALLY, I MET WITH PRESIDENT ZELENSKY AT THE UNITED NATIONS (DEMOCRATS SAID I NEVER MET) AND RELEASED THE MILITARY AID TO UKRAINE WITHOUT ANY CONDITIONS OR INVESTIGATIONS – AND FAR AHEAD OF SCHEDULE. I ALSO ALLOWED UKRAINE TO PURCHASE JAVELIN ANTI-TANK MISSILES. MY ADMINISTRATION HAS DONE FAR MORE THAN THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION.”
