On Wednesday, the Senate acquitted Mr. Trump on both articles of impeachment. Now, the president is on his own “witch hunt” to go after those who voted to charge him. Trump jumped on Twitter Friday to continue his rant.
Trump lashed out against Senator Mitt Romney (R-UT) and Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) who voted against him, continuing to call the trial an “impeachment Hoax.”
Here’s how the Twitter world responded:
Trump’s new goal is to punish anyone who had involvement in his impeachment trial and came out against him in any way. On Friday, he ousted Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman and U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland.
According to The Daily Beast:
‘Many had expected Trump to exact vengeance following his impeachment acquittal. After all, it was only two weeks ago that Eric Ueland, Trump’s legislative affairs director, had breezed past a group of reporters and was quoted saying, “I can’t wait for the revenge.”’
One State Department official said:
‘It’s incredibly disturbing that the president is unaware of his Constitutional powers until his corrupt intent is clear. All Americans should easily recognize at this point his personnel decisions have nothing to do with valid policy decisions for the public good and are only about the zero sum game of his own personal power interests.’
Both Sondland and Vindman had provided crucial testimony during impeachment hearings. Vindman recalled his shock when he heard Mr. Trump pressure the Ukrainian president to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter Biden.
