Donald Trump has been walking around with his chest thrust out taking liberties at least twice the size as those before his impeachment. Pundits believe that he had reached the depth of his depravement, but they were wrong. Very wrong.
Monday, Trump said that “40,000 to 50,000 people” attended his rally. Never mind that the venue could only hold an audience of 12,000.
After his inauguration on January 20, 2017, Trump claimed the crowd was approximately 1.5 million. Pictures of the event showed a comparatively sparse crowd gathered along the National Mall.
He was offended that President Barack Obama had crowds far greater than his own, approximately 1.8 million attendees in 2009. Trump approached the problem by telling reporters to not believe their eyes. He also had the photographs altered to create the reality he desired.
Trump’s first White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer was forced to claim this was the “largest crowd ever.” The actual crowd was between “250,000 and 600,000.”
One of his top advisers in the White House, Stephen Miller, stood before the reporters when POTUS used to have press conferences and spoke these chilling words, according to The Washington Post:
 ‘[O]ur opponents, the media and the whole world will soon see as we begin to take further actions, that the powers of the president to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned.’
The president spoke to reporters at the White House Tuesday. That was when he claimed that he drew in crowds comparable to what he expected during his trip to India at the end of the month. He claimed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi believed he could generate crowds of “millions,” which would come to see him, The Newsweek magazine reported:
“Last night we probably had 40 to 50,000 people, far more than anyone else. But when we have 50,000 people these days… I’m not going to feel so good. Because he [Modi] thinks we’re going to have 5 to 7 million people just from the airport to the new stadium, and you know it’s the largest stadium in the world.’
Of course, despite Trump’s enormous crowd size estimates, there was no doubt that he had drawn a significant number of people as they stood in the rain and in the cold awaiting his arrival. He said that he wanted to shake up the Democrats by holding a rally the day before the New Hampshire primary.
The only comparable crowd size was Senator Bernie Sanders’ (I-VT) rallies. He held a rally at a smaller venue with the capacity to hold 7,500 people.
When the commander-in-chief went to the SNHU arena, it would only hold an audience of 11,700. Even when POTUS counted the overflow audience, the number of 40,000 or even higher could have reached 40,000 or even higher was impossible.
The idea that the president would inflate his crowd size was not much different from his past behavior. The expansive estimates of up to 50,000 sound more like those of North Korea’s Kim Jong Un.
A president let loose to say and do anything he chooses given his lawlessness and delusions are disturbing.
