Bolton Jumps To Kelly’s Defense After Trump Disrespect

The president had been trashing his former officials all day Thursday, and a back-and-forth between Mr. Trump and John Kelly was quite combative, and yet utterly entertaining for the general public. The two released multiple statements attacking one another throughout the day, and you know Trump got super petty.

Check out some What started the backlash below:

When I terminated John Kelly, which I couldn’t do fast enough, he knew full well that he was way over his head. Being Chief of Staff just wasn’t for him. He came in with a bang, went out with a whimper, but like so many X’s, he misses the action & just can’t keep his mouth shut,’

….which he actually has a military and legal obligation to do. His incredible wife, Karen, who I have a lot of respect for, once pulled me aside & said strongly that “John respects you greatly. When we are no longer here, he will only speak well of you.” Wrong!

Many people shot back at Trump over this attack on John Kelly, including Lt. Col Vindman, who testified against Mr. Trump during the impeachment inquiry. Vindman had this to say:

“By using the power of his office to repeatedly humiliate and punish those following the law, the President is encouraging breaking the law.”

Even John Bolton clapped back at Trump, despite his record of not always getting along with Kelly. Bolton said this:

John Kelly is an honorable man. John and I have disagreed at times, as is commonplace at senior government levels, but he has always served his country faithfully. Conservatives especially have a responsibility to reject baseless attacks upon him.

People responding to John Bolton on Twitter are in agreement that John Kelly doesn’t deserve this kind of treatment from Mr. Trump. You can see the top comments left on Bolton’s tweet below:
