Schiff Destroys Trump & Barr During Weekend Investigation Rebuke

Democratic members of Congress aren’t taking self-righteous posturing from Attorney General Bill Barr very seriously. In response to a headline-attracting ABC News interview in which the Trump appointee complained about the president’s constant barrage of tweets about the Justice Department’s work, House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) insisted that in reality, Barr has no apparent moral qualms about political intervention. He’s just upset about the spotlight getting shined on the political maneuvering that’s really happening.

Schiff commented, referring to the Roger Stone case:

‘Barr admits he intervened in the sentencing of a man who lied to Congress to cover up for the President. He’s only upset that Trump’s tweets made the political nature of his intervention obvious. Barr fools no one. He’s a witting accomplice to Trump’s attack on the rule of law.’

Besides the criticism from House Democrats, Senate Dems have joined in too. Including signatories like Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders, a group of Senate Democrats sent a letter to Barr recently insisting that he should resign. After all, the political expedience of his Stone case intervention is pretty crystal clear, even if he makes a show of claiming he came up with it on his own. His team overruled the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s office to lower Stone’s sentencing recommendation.

In a perhaps even more stunning show of force against the attorney general, more than 1,100 former Justice Department officials have also joined together to call on Barr to resign. There’s no indication that he’ll take any of their demands to heart — since his extended cover-up of evidence from Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation around the time that he first came onboard, he’s proven a loyal Trump shill.
