Ted Cruz Freaks Over Mandatory Vasectomy Legislation

White men have told women what to do with their reproductive systems for decades, up to and including now. It becomes interesting that ever since the birth control pill became available in the 1960s, the squeeze has become tighter and tighter. Yet, when women mention the word “vasectomy” men freak.

They have made the laws more and more restrictive for Planned Parenthood, insurance plans, and other forms of legislating any freedom out of the picture. Yet, when Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) heard about the bill, he freaked.

Alabama Democratic state representative Rolanda Hollis filed the vasectomy bill last Thursday. Should the bill pass, it would require all men to have a vasectomy one months following their 50th birthday or after the third biological child was born:

‘The HB 238 bill, first mentioned by Alabama Democrats during the state’s debate in 2019 on HB314, will ensure the vasectomies are undergone at the man’s “own expense.”‘

The legislation was proposed in response to an Alabama law passed last year to ban most abortions across the state. “

Cruz tweeted:

‘Yikes. A government big enough to give you everything is big enough to take everything…literally! Alabama Democrat proposes bill mandating all men have vasectomy at age 50 or after third child.’

Alabama’s abortion bill only allows the procedure when the mother’s life is on the line. A federal judge blocked the legislation temporarily. A summary of the Hollis vasectomy legislation according to AL.com reads:

‘Under existing law, there are no restrictions on the reproductive rights of men. This bill would require a man to undergo a vasectomy within one month of his 50th birthday or the birth of his third biological child, whichever comes first.’

Hollis claimed the vasectomy bill would “help with the reproductive system.” She is pro-life and pro-choice, and she said:

‘”It is to neutralize the abortion ban bill. It always takes two to tango. We can’t put all the responsibility on women. Men need to be responsible also. I do not believe that women should use abortion as a birth control, but I do believe that if a women is raped or if it’s incest or anything like that, then she has the choice to do what she wants to do.’

The views on the street were not particularly responsive to Hollis’ legislation. DeMarcus Furlow said:

‘I think it’s absurd first of all. It’s delusional for somebody to tell somebody they have to have a mandatory vasectomy.’
