Trump Jr. Reveals Embarrassing Face-Off With Dad

Donald Trump Jr. has apparently sought to turn social media bullying into a personality trait and/or, perhaps, an entire political platform. He’s going to be appearing on this weekend’s edition of Axios on HBO, and the outlet has now revealed a preshow clip of his interview in which he reveals that he even, supposedly, faced off with his dad over his often incendiary social media usage. Supposedly, Trump Sr. told his prominent son to “cool it” on Twitter at one point – and at the time, Trump Jr. glibly told his dad that he’d never do any such thing.

So now the president and his son are having Twitter bullying contests apparently. The Axios host asked Trump Jr.:

’Has your dad ever had to tell you to cool it on Twitter?’

Jr. — who supposedly has a family business to help run in his father’s absence – replied:

’I have gotten that phone call before. Like I was picking up the phone to: This is the White House operator, and it’s like oh now what did I do now. He was like – you’re getting a little too aggressive, and I was like: I learned it by watching you! I inherited the Tourette’s of the thumbs.’

Watch:

Great to hear that the son of the president of the United States feels free to turn his father’s role into a platform to deliver punch lines mocking disabled people. In reality, of course, Trump Jr.’s behavior does follow after his dad’s very closely – for example, both of them have promoted the racist nickname “Pocahontas” for Massachusetts Senator and now former Democratic presidential primary candidate Elizabeth Warren. Trump Sr. has even used the nickname, which turns Native American identity into a mockery and a punchline, while standing with Navajo code talkers who served on the U.S. side during World War II!

And the Trump bullying tradition goes well on from there. Trump Jr. has guested at a number of his father’s campaign rallies, where he’s led attacks on plenty of the most well-known among the president’s opponents.

And separately, on his own, he’s also launched ridiculous broadsides like his recent claim that Democrats “want” the Coronavirus to kill millions of Americans just so they can stick it to his dad. There is no evidence whatsoever for that claim, of course, although there’s been no walk back from Trump World. In reality, Democrats worked to ensure more protection for Americans from Coronavirus. They recently helped pass an emergency funding package for virus response efforts that was many billions more than the initial amount that the president’s team had requested.

Meanwhile, Trump has just kept up his own angry broadsides. No matter wry suggestions otherwise from Trump Jr., there’s no daylight between his and his dad’s behavior.

Just this Sunday, Trump tweeted:

’We have a perfectly coordinated and fine tuned plan at the White House for our attack on CoronaVirus. We moved VERY early to close borders to certain areas, which was a Godsend. V.P. is doing a great job. The Fake News Media is doing everything possible to make us look bad. Sad!’

He’s still focusing on media coverage rather than the crisis.
