On Friday, Mitch McConnell pulled a real dopey move that put a lot of Americans in danger when he dismissed the Senate to go home without passing the Families First Coronavirus Response Act. The bill would deliver a proper response to the deadly coronavirus making its way across the country.
Now, Chuck Schumer is calling McConnell out for this reprehensible lack of concern for the people of this country. Schumer said this about McConnell:
Paid sick leave
Food security assistance
Free testing for those who need it
Emergency unemployment insurance
New Medicaid investments

“It was remarkably irresponsible and out of touch for Sen. McConnell to send senators out of town in the middle of a public health crisis before the House passed this vital people-focused legislation. Sen. McConnell and Republicans should pass this legislation as is immediately.”
Previously Nancy Pelosi and Donald Trump both agreed to the bill, and announced that it would be signed before the end of the day. Pelosi said:
As the Senate works to pass #FamiliesFirst, the House will begin work on a third emergency response package to protect the health, economic security and well-being of the American people.

“Today, we will pass the Families First Coronavirus Response Act after reaching an agreement with the Administration. This legislation builds on the action that House Democrats took last week to put #FamiliesFirst with our strong, bipartisan $8.3 billion emergency funding package.”
Even Trump was in full agreement that the bill should be passed immediately. Or was he. Trump tweeted the following message, but you have to wonder if he and McConnell didn’t have this planned all along:
I fully support H.R. 6201: Families First CoronaVirus Response Act, which will be voted on in the House this evening. This Bill will follow my direction for free CoronaVirus tests, and paid sick leave for our impacted American workers. I have directed….

People responding to Schumer’s tweet were equally as angry and fed out with yet another Republican dropping the ball of public safety. Check out the best responses left on the tweet below:
