Donald Trump may start shouting out “Soldier!” The press conference journalists would turn and look at each other, thinking he just went around the bend. “I can’t hear you!” General Donald J. Trumpl leans into one correspondents’ faces dressing down the reporter for refusing to play soldier with him.
That reality may not be so much different than Trump’s reality. Put him in an Army green jacket with a U.S.S. Gerald Ford carrier badge on it and a cap mimicking the jacket, and Trump is in reality show heaven.
The problem is that his involvement stops there. Do nurses really need face masks to prevent them from catching the coronavirus? Give them a roll of masking tape. or a scarf…good enough.
The country needs a leader to marshall the country’s resources. A crisis of this proportion will crush him and unfortunately, all the dead he leaves in his wrong-headed wake. One-third of Americans believes there is no pandemic that will roll across the country and that they should shelter in place.
