Democrats are officially fed up with the games being played by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell after his repeated refusal to stipulating rules in the stimulus package bill that serve corporations above the people of America.
West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin reached his boiling point Monday when arguing with McConnell during the vote for the package that citizens who have been forced to stay home are eagerly awaiting.
While people are struggling to feed their children and pay their rent, politicians like Mitch McConnell see one thing. Dollar signs. Manchin said this to McConnell Monday afternoon in D.C. after McConnell tried to place blame for the delay on Democrats:
“You can throw all the money at Wall Street you want to. People are afraid to leave their homes. They’re afraid of the health care. I’ve got workers who don’t have masks. I’ve got health care workers who don’t have gowns.”
Then Manchin said something that had everyone holding their breath:
“And it looks like we’re worried more about the economy than we are the health care and the wellbeing of the people of America.”
McConnell was quick to shoot back at Manchin, saying:
“The American people are waiting for us to act today! We don’t have time for this! We don’t have time for it!”
All of a sudden Mitch McConnell doesn’t have time to negotiate. The stack of ignored bills sitting on his desk is evidence that he’s a total phony. McConnell is indebted to Wall Street and mega corporations who have made him a very rich man during his time in office. He literally works for them, not the people of America.
Manchin then asked McConnell:
“Let me ask you a question..”
McConnell interrupted with:
“Answer my question! In what way would the Democratic Party be disadvantaged?”
“Thirty hours [of debate] or 30 days, as long as you have the votes, 51 votes rule. So the final vote is going to be on passage, whether you have to negotiate or not with us.”
“Here’s the way it works!” McConnell exclaimed. “We have been fiddling around as the senator from Maine pointed out for 24 hours…”
That’s when Manchin interrupted McConnell, reclaiming his time without allowing the senator to finish his sentence.
Manchin then stated:
“We just have a little different opinion about this. You can’t throw enough money to fix this if you can’t fix the health care.”
“My health care workers need to be protected. But it seems like we’re talking about everything else about the economy versus the health care. That doesn’t make any sense to me whatsoever.”
“It seems like we’re more concerned about the health care of Wall Street. That’s the problem that I’ve had on this.”
