Southern states seize every opportunity they can get their inappropriate hands on when it comes to enforcing biblical law on the people of this country. Abortion has been a hot-button issue since pretty much forever, and evangelicals see the topic as very black and white. The supreme court, however, ruled that banning abortion is not only dangerous for women and children, but it is a violation of a woman’s rights to force her to be pregnant and give birth if she feels unable to do so for whatever reason.
It’s not surprise to hear that the state of Texas is now using the deadly coronavirus outbreak as an excuse to block abortions to patients who need them, forcing them to either leave the state to get the procedure, or take matters into their own hands, as women have done historically.
I'm disgusted to inform you that the Texas Attorney General has chosen this moment to attack women and access to reproductive care.
There is no shame for these folks. https://t.co/KPk5I7iuno

Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton says that abortions will no longer be performed because all medical resources should be going to combat COVID-19 right now.
Paxton said this Monday:
“No one is exempt from the governor’s executive order on medically unnecessary surgeries and procedures, including abortion providers.”
“Those who violate the governor’s order will be met with the full force of the law.”
Texas Republicans are using #COVIDー19 as an excuse to ban abortion in the state. This is a crisis not an opportunity to sneak through ideological bullshit.

Governor Greg Abbott (R-TX) declared on Sunday that all medical institutions in the state were to uphold the new rule except for circumstances like the mother’s life being in danger.
“We must work together as Texans to stop the spread of COVID-19 and ensure that our health care professionals and facilities have all the resources they need to fight the virus at this time.”
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost (R) pulled the same move on Sunday, declaring that:
“You and your facility are ordered to immediately stop performing non-essential and elective surgical abortions. Non-essential surgical abortions are those that can be delayed without undue risk to the current or future health of a patient.”

Notice that none of these rich Republicans are demanding plastic surgery procedures be halted, or even limited. That’s because it doesn’t suit their religious agenda to oppress women in a time when they are already struggling immensely. That, and they love plastic surgery.
