President Donald Trump has stuck to his relentless egomania even amidst the Coronavirus crisis. This Tuesday morning, following an appearance by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on MSNBC, Trump rushed to Twitter to mock both the show itself and Pelosi. He suggested that Pelosi is indefinitely planning “moves… to further hurt our country,” even though she’s the one who helped get the recent huge Coronavirus relief funding package passed in Congress. The day after more than 500 Americans died in a single day from the Coronavirus, Trump is sticking to his nonsense political attacks.
He angrily tweeted:
‘I watched a portion of low rated (very) Morning Psycho (Joe) this Morning in order to see what Nancy Pelosi had to say, & what moves she was planning to further hurt our Country. Actually, other than her usual complaining that I’m a terrible person, she wasn’t bad. Still praying!’

He has seemingly completely dehumanized his opponents in the name of political expedience. In his estimation, Pelosi isn’t a leader working to advance the priorities of her constituents — she’s someone who goes on a “Psycho” show to plot ways to hurt the United States. He didn’t even bother attempting to engage with the substance of what the House Speaker had to say, which included a broad call for more support for those working against the Coronavirus.
More than 500 Americans died from coronavirus on Monday — the most of any day yet. Trump is praying for Nancy Pelosi to praise him more. https://t.co/TquhPfp32c

As Pelosi summarized:
‘We are asking people to risk their lives to save other lives. We are asking people to make a judgement of who gets a ventilator or not. This *should not* be happening. Proper testing is needed. Equipment must be produced immediately.’

That’s a direct call-out to the president. Concerned observers have repeatedly urged Trump to invoke the Defense Production Act to order companies to produce the necessary medical equipment. After endless rounds of waffling, Trump apparently issued such an order to General Motors, but huge supply gaps still remain. This past weekend, Trump even ludicrously and completely baselessly suggested that medical personnel were “hoarding” supplies in an attempt to… what? Make him look bad?
