Amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, which has claimed the lives of what’s fast approaching at least 10,000 Americans, President Donald Trump can be counted on to keep petulantly lashing out at his political opponents. Little, it seems, will restrain his self-serving ranting. Although there’s a global pandemic raging across much of the world that’s driven historic stock market crashes, staggering surges in unemployment, and orders for huge swaths of people to stay home, in a tweet this Monday morning, Trump suggested that maybe “fake news” is the real problem. Specifically, he mocked publications including The New York Times and The Washington Post for their sinking ad revenues, which he tied not just to the crisis but also to their baselessly supposed “fake news.”
He tweeted:

It’s incredible that Trump consistently tries to convince observers that he’s a credible leader of U.S. Coronavirus response and then pulls out this nonsense for the umpteenth time. No, Trump, the sinking ad revenues aren’t evidence of the karma from some conspiracy against Your Highness — they’re the same sort of thing that’s happening to just about every other business in the United States amidst the global pandemic that you’re supposed to be responding to.
Trump’s Coronavirus response has rapidly and repeatedly proven chaotic at best, and some have already discussed the need for a 9/11 style investigative commission once the crisis is in the rearview mirror.
