Amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, President Donald Trump is sticking to behaving as if local authorities seeking basic levels of potentially life-saving assistance are behind some plot to make him look bad. Local authorities have made clear that before reopening their economies after Coronavirus-induced social distancing measures, they need appropriate levels of testing in order to be able to track and subsequently mitigate any virus spread. In a meltdown on Twitter this Monday, Trump suggested that those seeking assistance in developing testing capabilities are playing a “very dangerous political game,” like he’s trying to sound tough like some kind of mob boss in order to try and obscure his glaring incompetence.
Over 41,000 Americans are dead, and the president is sticking to his paranoid whiny meltdowns about how the basic reality of the needs of the situation are supposedly some kind of conspiracy to make him look like something other than the chosen one or whatever.
I’m demanding answers from the Trump Administration about its failures to manage the national stockpile and get states the supplies needed to slow the spread of the coronavirus and save lives.https://t.co/I5beSbseqA

He tweeted:
‘Last month all you heard from the Radical Left, Do Nothing Democrats was, “Ventilators, Ventilators, Ventilators.” They screamed it loud & clear, & thought they had us cold, even though it was the State’s task. But everyone got their V’s, with many to spare. Now they scream Testing, Testing, Testing,” again playing a very dangerous political game. States, not the Federal Government, should be doing the Testing – But we will work with the Governors and get it done. This is easy compared to the fast production of thousands of complex Ventilators!’

For the umpteenth time — what on earth is the federal government there for if not to assist and coordinate action among the states? What is the national stockpile of medical supplies there for if not to assist states in time of crisis? States can’t flip a switch and get the testing that they need, especially when left to the vagaries of the private market in which they have to bid against other states. But Trump, with the federal government’s resources at his disposal, seems more interested in whining on Twitter.
Trump calls Andrew Cuomo's ventilator requests "ridiculous" and then attacks President Obama, who left office in 2017, for the fact the national ventilator stockpile was depleted in 2020 pic.twitter.com/RofWikafHL
