Trump Makes Up Crazy Coronavirus Lies To The Public

Americans are somewhere at the bottom of Trump’s priority list, somewhere below showboating, bragging, and photo-ops. The president’s lackluster responses when it comes to anything coronavirus tells us that he clearly doesn’t care that people are dying by the thousands.

He’s too busy bragging about saving millions of lives that he hasn’t even paid his respects to the nearly 39,000 Americans who have already died from the airborne pathogen.

Yes, he actually did that. Trump said this Saturday:

Trump said:

“You talk about, potentially, lives like no one has seen since 1917. It could have been billions of people if we had not done what we did.”

First, the Spanish Flu took place in 1918, not 1917. Second, ARE YOU SERIOUS? Never were billions projected to die from the coronavirus, but the nearly 40,000 who have died since January are Trump’s responsibility that he refuses to claim.

That’s not all Trump said today.

Trump literally lied and claimed that the United States “has produced better health outcomes than any other country.” Now, America is breaking coronavirus records, but not for being the best. In fact, America is actually leading the world in infections and virus casualties.

According to CNN:

As millions of Americans begin their second month under lockdown, President Donald Trump is rewriting the history of his coronavirus response. In doing so, he is giving the public an inaccurate and cherry-picked retelling of what he did in the pivotal early months.

As part of this effort, during Monday’s daily coronavirus briefing, the White House played a propaganda video describing Trump’s “decisive actions” to deal with the pandemic. After facing questions about why the video omitted nearly the entire month of February, the White House followed up on Tuesday with a series of talking points about his “strong action” during that month.

CNN continued:

February was a crucial time. The focus was on China, but public health authorities were warning the pandemic would reach the US with vigor. The US government started taking action, but Trump was out of step with the science and downplayed the threat. Had he acknowledged the severity earlier and acted accordingly, experts say, some of the worst could have been avoided.

Ignoring Trump’s denialism, the White House tries to portray him as a strong leader who saved lives. But its timeline is mostly full of press releases about plans and a list of conversations among politicians – heavy on talk, with little immediate action. This narrative excludes critical context and glosses over some key failures from the administration’s fumbling response.

People responding to the conference on Twitter were frankly quite angry at the president. You can see the top responses to the tweets below:
