It remains unclear how aware that Ivanka Trump actually is of conditions on the ground amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, no matter her role in her father’s presidential administration including responsibilities like responding to the Coronavirus pandemic. This Wednesday morning, she glibly took to Twitter with a message admonishing people who are protesting against Coronavirus-induced social distancing measures to — wait for it — employ the social distancing measures that they’re protesting against. Her both sides-ism is absolutely ludicrous; her acting like the people at the protests have shown concern for public health and safety has no relation to reality.
Why is she acting like the people protesting against social distancing have any interest in practicing social distancing? What a bizarrely failing way to attempt to legitimize the high-profile demonstrations put on by those who are prioritizing economic security over public health. She tweeted:
‘Peaceful protest & freedom of assembly are beautiful American traditions that should always be protected. If you choose to exercise your 1st Amendment rights, please practice social distancing & wear a face covering. We can protect our rights & our health at the same time.’

As CNN contributor Joe Lockhart put it:
‘These protests violate the government’s guidelines on public gatherings. Are they meaningless? And why do peaceful protesters come to this rallies with automatic weapons. Are they going hunting after?’

Indeed — Ivanka’s show of trying to make the protests out to be some kind of grand old American pastime simply does not reflect what’s actually transpiring.

Elsewhere in the GOP, at least a few figures have really dug into the idea of running a death cult — and that’s barely an exaggeration! Rather than opting for Ivanka-style obfuscation, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick recently proclaimed during an appearance on Fox that there are “more important things than living.” Those “more important things,” he claimed, include the protection of the economy. In other words, they’re definitely not even trying to hide their unflinching allegiance to the Dow anymore.
Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick on reopening the economy: "There are more important things than living."@DanPatrick, you are a fraud. You have allowed gun violence to run rampant and now you say this? You just killed the Pro Life movement. https://t.co/SrjJwZIhHy
