Former personal attorney to Donald Trump, Michael Cohen, warmed that the president would not be held accountable for his illicit activities. He said in his testimony before Congress that POTUS would not leave the White House easily. After an early release from prison, Cohen has written a tell-all book about his former boss. Trump is terrified.

Naturally, Trump plans to sue Cohen. The book includes many details about how the president treats women. That may explain Trump’s treatment of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), according to The Daily Beast.

Cohen has to spend the remainder of his sentence at home, but that is not so different from what the rest of the country has been doing during this COVID-19 pandemic. He was let out of prison, because he only had months left to serve and prisons are a Petri dish of disease.

Trump has been nervous about Cohen’s release, especially with the 2020 presidential election this year. He has called the attorney “a rat” for talking to the national intelligence community.

To say that Donald Trump is furious at the suggestion he has to work with House Speaker Pelosi on top of his anxiety over Cohen would be an understatement. Many Democrats cannot wait to get their hands on a copy of Cohen’s new book. The Daily Beast wrote:

Trump is said to be particularly irritated by what Cohen could detail in his upcoming, potentially explosive memoir, which was first reported by The Daily Beast, and whether its contents would perturb Trump enough to sue Cohen. This new manuscript comes two years after Cohen’s hopes of publishing a prior memoir—a pro-Trump screed with the working title of Trump Revolution—were dashed amid his escalating legal woes.’

It appears that not working with the president has been working with the Speaker just fine. She has been coordinating with the Secretary of the Treasury Steven Mnuchin just fine. The two top U.S. leaders have not spoken to each other since around Thanksgiving.

It all began in a meeting with POTUS, a room full of men, and one woman. Trump was throwing a tantrum, and Pelosi stood up and shook her finger at him. She raised five children and was the youngest of seven children, all boys except her, so she knows how to deal with men.

Washington understands that it must act quickly if it is going to get its hands around the coronavirus and wrestle it to the ground. Otherwise, the economic downswing will continue on its way to down the drain and drag the entire country with it.

Still, Trump has balked at working one-on-on with the Speaker. He sounds fearful of this powerful woman. She is second in line to the presidency, right after Vice President Mike Pence. The commander-in-chief is afraid that she would humiliate him. He does not even want to be in the same room with her.

One top White House official said that the White House has been trying to come up with an economic package, according to The Daily Beast:

‘At this time, the president does not see it as productive to [personally] negotiate directly with Nancy Pelosi. For now, it’s best for her to deal directly with Sec. Mnuchin and others in the administration.” The official recalled how Trump bristled at Pelosi for, in the president’s estimation, “immediately” leaving recent private meetings the two had to leak its contents and try to, in the source’s characterization, “make the president look bad and score political points. When you’re in the middle of a public health crisis, you don’t need that kind of theater.’

The man who occasionally sits in the Oval Office and watches seven hours of television every day is motivated to come up with a plan to deal with coronavirus pandemic. He says that being around Pelosi would “waste my time.” He believes she has been “horrible” to him. Trump also feels injured after she tore up his “beautiful” State of the Union speech slowly and with intentionality. She had invited him to speak before the House. It did not go well.

Pelosi has spoken with Mnuchin a couple of times in the past week. They even had a one-on-one meeting in her office.

Trump has not spoken to the Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) recently either:

‘Nancy Pelosi just said, “I don’t know if we can be ready this week.” In other words, it’s off to vacation for the Do Nothing Democrats. That’s been the story with then for 1 1/2 years!’Screen-Shot-2020-04-26-at-8.08.20-AM Insider Defects & Leaks Trump's Freak-Out Over Michael Cohen's Book Featured Feminism Healthcare Politics Top Stories

As the pandemic sweeps from both oceans toward the middle of the country, the government has been trying to deal with this crisis.  Democrats have a plan that they intend to unwrap on Wednesday. It would beef up sick leave and unemployment insurance. There would also be additional support for those working in and around the medical field, provide free school lunches, and expand the food stamp program.

The Democratic legislators on the hill think that is the most effective way to save the economy. If there was more sick leave, more people would be able to stay at home, they think. However, this virus goes well beyond two weeks and handicaps people up to as much as two months.

Trump and the Republicans want to help business and divert money in a payroll tax cut destined for Social Security and send it to the companies and the workers.
