This Tuesday during an appearance on MSNBC, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) shamed President Donald Trump for his belligerent attention to what she happened to have in her freezer while he stands in front of the nation with ludicrous suggestions like exploring injecting household disinfectants as a treatment for the Coronavirus, which would be poisonous. During a recent appearance on late night television, Pelosi discussed what was in her freezer, including ice cream, and Trump and Republicans have claimed that the image represents some kind of rampant Democratic laziness or something — but that’s just ridiculously untrue.

Democrats in Congress have been on the front lines of the fight against the Coronavirus, repeatedly developing crucial financial relief legislation. Pelosi commented, in reference to Trump:

‘He makes a big fuss about my having ice cream in my freezer… I have ice cream in my freezer. I guess it’s better than having Lysol in somebody’s lungs as he’s suggesting.’

In remarks to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday, Trump had complained:

‘The Democrats, they don’t want to come back, they don’t want to come back. I think they should be back here, but they don’t. They’re enjoying their vacation… if you look at Nancy Pelosi eating ice cream on late night television. They’re having a good time.’

This week, House leadership announced that they would not be reconvening next week after all following consultation with the House physician. Now, Trump appears to be trying to use that decision, which is a basic step to try and protect the health and safety of members of Congress and their families, as some kind of political bludgeon.

While he keeps winding himself up with this whiny criticism of his opponents amidst the pandemic, Americans keep suffering amidst the Coronavirus-related problems like personal protective equipment shortages, which he has exacerbated with his incessant inaction. The U.S. passed 60,000 Coronavirus deaths on Wednesday.
