This weekend, President Donald Trump continued his campaign to try and convince observers that he’s remotely competent when it comes to handling the Coronavirus pandemic. Laughably, this Saturday morning, he tweeted an attempted correction to Capitol physician Dr. Brian Monahan, who’d said that he did not have adequate testing capacity to test all Senators that would be returning to D.C. this week. Bizarrely, Trump tagged his own chief of staff, Mark Meadows, in the tweet. He does know that he can just… pick up the phone and talk to Mark, right? It’s as if he thinks this is all a game.
He posted:
‘There is tremendous CoronaVirus testing capacity in Washington for the Senators returning to Capital Hill on Monday. Likewise the House, which should return but isn’t because of Crazy Nancy P. The 5 minute Abbott Test will be used. Please inform Dr. Brian P. Monahan. @MarkMeadows’

The post follows previous attempts from the president to convince observers that the need for increased Coronavirus testing capacity in the U.S. is all an illusion. It’s not — calls for increased testing capacity are not false talking points, as Trump has claimed. They’re basic facts, which Trump seems to be trying to wish out of existence in the name of bolstering his public image.
This Saturday morning, Trump also again touted supposed poll numbers supposedly showing high approval for the president within the Republican Party. A single poll, however, does not erase months on end of polling in which presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden leads Trump in the overwhelming majority of results.
96% Approval Rating in the Republican Party. Thank you! Also, just out, highest ever Approval Rating overall in the new Gallup Poll, and shows “Trump beating Sleepy Joe Biden.”
