Terrorist Caught With Pipe Bombs In Route To COVID Protest

A Colorado man has been arrested over the possession of at least four pipe bomb devices ahead of his planned attendance at a rally against the state’s lockdown orders that have been instituted amidst the Coronavirus pandemic. Although it’s unclear if the man was an open Trump supporter, this case is not unfolding in a vacuum. In fact, President Donald Trump has openly called for his supporters to “liberate” states that have lockdown orders in place, and this planned violence is right in line with that de facto call for armed insurrection against duly elected authorities who happen to be trying to keep people from dying en masse due to a virus.

The man caught with the pipe bombs in Colorado is 53-year-old Bradley Bunn, who admitted to authorities that he planned to use the weapons against people. A local NBC station reports that “an online manifesto that called for an “armed defiance against tyrants” at the Capitol is part of Bunn’s federal case,” and notably, that manifesto actually found an eager audience online, with numerous documented shares around the time that armed protesters stormed the state Capitol building in Michigan in protest of that state’s lockdown orders.

That same local NBC affiliate reports that Bunn has “remained in federal lockup pending a possible mental health evaluation and detention hearing.” If convicted of the illegal weapons charges against him, he could face up to ten years in prison and a fine of a quarter of a million dollars.

The FBI reports that at one point, Bunn rambled to agents:

‘If I experienced a hard entry, at 3 am, having been an infantry commander, it’s really tough to get guys spread out no matter how hard you try.  They still want to clump up ‘cause of fear, and I know their, their, anyway, blah, blah, blah.’

Asked for clarification if he was planning to use the bombs against the individuals who he indicated would insist on “clumping up,” Bunn said yes, he was, although he noted:

‘I don’t have a lot of experience in this.  I haven’t done this before.’

Bunn has, however, been involved in a number of other legal cases in the past, including at least two arrests for domestic violence incidents, although those cases were dropped. Brittany Bunn, the suspect’s daughter, told local media that her father should be kept locked up. She commented:

‘My hope right now is he doesn’t get away with this like he got away with so much abuse towards my family. I do not believe he is a safe person to have out free in society.’

These are the kinds of people who have been attracted to the protest movement against social distancing protections. These protections are not some kind of secret plot against patriots, as those like Trump and Bunn would have observers believe. They are duly documented protective orders implemented because of the tens of thousands of deaths from the Coronavirus in the U.S. alone, with tens of thousands more projected for the weeks ahead.
