President Donald Trump doesn’t seem like he’s taking the political pressure that he’s under very well — to put it lightly. He continues to wind himself up on an almost daily basis into angry frenzies against his opponents. Now, he has suggested in a new Fox interview that public figures like former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden should face decades-long jail terms — although it’s not even quite clear what exact crimes the president imagines that his opponents committed. What is clear is that Trump and his shills at Fox have devolved into out-of-control rants against their opponents as if they imagine that in Trump’s hands, the presidency has suddenly become a dictatorship.
Referring to the supposed scandal of authorities daring to launch a Russia investigation in the face of ample evidence tying Russia to the Trump team and to election meddling in the U.S., Trump ranted to Fox host Maria Bartiromo:
‘It was the greatest political crime in the history of our country. If I were a Democrat instead of a Republican, I think everybody would’ve been in jail a long time ago, and I’m talking with 50-year sentences. It is a disgrace what’s happened. This is the greatest political scam, hoax in the history of our country, and people should be going to jail for this stuff, and hopefully, a lot of people are gonna have to pay… this was all Obama. This was all Biden. These people were corrupt. The whole thing was corrupt, and we caught them. We caught them.’
That is ludicrous — and dangerous for the rule of law in the United States, since the president is sitting there and ranting that his political opponents will “have to pay.” Watch below:

In a country that has dealt with slavery, two world wars, a civil war, multiple presidential assassinations and assassination attempts, and more, Trump’s self-obsession has reached the point that he’s claiming that a simple investigation into his team is the worst political scandal in the history of the United States. It’s worth noting that Bartiromo did not push back on this absurd notion at all, indicating how much that Fox and their fellow Republican establishment members have really jumped in with the president’s utter nonsense.
During his Fox interview, Trump also wheeled out some other absurd anti-Democrat nonsense. He claimed, for instance, that Democrats want Americans to die from the Coronavirus because they think it’ll hurt Trump’s re-election chances.
He rambled, in reference to Democrats:
‘They would rather see our country fail, and you know what that means because part of failure is death. They would rather see that than have me get elected.’

The president has apparently convinced himself that concern about a global pandemic is part of a plot to make him look bad. In the wake of his self-delusion, over 90,000 Americans have died from the Coronavirus.
Americans seem sick of the president’s belligerence. Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden regularly leads Trump in polls on both the national and swing state levels.
