Like a wannabe totalitarian dictator, President Donald Trump has recently suggested that former President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden should be thrown in jail, although Trump has yet to actually outline what actual crimes he alleges that either of them committed. This Monday, however, Attorney General Bill Barr insisted that he is not planning on a criminal investigation of either Obama or Biden in connection to their role in starting the Russia investigation, which is what’s sent Trump into a rage. Barr has routinely used the justice system for the inarguable personal political benefit of Donald Trump, so when even he breaks with the president, Trump’s rhetoric has truly gotten extreme.

Referring to John Durham, who has been tasked with an investigation into the supposedly dubious origins of the Russia investigation, Barr said:
‘As to President Obama and Vice President Obama, whatever their level of involvement, based on the information I have today, I don’t expect Mr. Durham’s work will lead to a criminal investigation of either man. Our concern over potential criminality is focused on others.’

Previously, Trump had commented during a Fox interview:
‘If I were a Democrat instead of a Republican, I think everybody would’ve been in jail a long time ago, and I’m talking with 50-year sentences… people should be going to jail for this stuff… this was all Obama. This was all Biden.’
None of that has any relationship to reality. Unlike Trump’s ludicrous claims to the contrary, the Russia investigation was definitely not the biggest political scandal in American history. He appears to simply be majorly paranoid.

Trump and his allies have used the term “Obamagate” to refer to the supposed scandal of whatever exactly is is that they allege that Obama did, but they have yet to define what the term actually means.
