President Donald Trump appears to still be reeling over the negative media attention that he attracted over his golf outings last weekend, while the U.S. approached a total of 100,000 Coronavirus deaths. Americans are still dying in large numbers due to the virus, and millions more Americans are still reeling from the economic upheaval amidst the attempts to contain the disease — but the president was focused with his public image. This Tuesday afternoon, he rushed to Twitter to mockingly point out that former President Barack Obama also went golfing recently — although Obama is not the actual current president who is ignoring his basic job responsibilities.
Trump tweeted:
‘Didn’t Obama, whose Administration has now been caught cold illegally spying on the Trump campaign, recently also get caught playing golf on a course in Virginia, despite his wife Michelle urging people to stay home, before and after his round, in a major public service message?’
He added that, supposedly, “The only thing the Dems have going for them is their very close relationship with the Fake News Lamestream Media!”

It’s important to note — no, the Obama administration was never caught “illegally spying on the Trump campaign.” That just didn’t happen. The president, who sounds completely unhinged, made it up based on a flimsy collection of scattered pieces of information that have been wound together into an absolutely ridiculous and reality-disconnected narrative. Trump has even recently suggested that Obama and his former vice president Joe Biden should be potentially jailed for their supposed crimes against Trump’s campaign — but those crimes do not exist. The president is talking like a wannabe despot targeting his political opponents.
His desperation may be based in his increasingly dismal political chances. Polls consistently have presumptive Dem nominee Joe Biden far out ahead of Trump.
