In just five months, Americans will go to the polls and participate in the democratic process, making a choice that will drastically alter the future of the country. While some are still undecided between the former vice-president with years of experience and the man whose leadership led to a widespread virus outbreak who has formerly ordered children into cages, the choice really seems rather obvious.

St. Pete Polls conducted a survey on May 26 and May 27, at the same time that the United States surpassed 100,000 deaths from COVID-19. The survey included voters in Florida, traditionally a red state that went to Trump by just 1.2 percent over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Losing Florida could spell disaster for the current president in 2020, particularly if any swing states like Michigan, North Carolina, Maine, or Nebraska fall to Vice President Biden. While Biden’s lead over Trump remains small and within the margin of error, Trump’s sinking approval ratings in the state may prove more important in deciding the outcome of the next election.

According to floridapolitics.com:

‘Joe Biden continues to hold a slight but statistically insignificant lead in Florida over Trump. Results peg the Democratic challenger at 47.5% and the Republican incumbent at 46.7%.

‘A more significant finding may be that Florida voters feel less supportive of the President now than five weeks ago.

‘Nearly 49% of voters now say they do not approve of Trump’s job performance. That compares to 46.4% who support the job he’s doing. That 2.3% spread puts the president underwater when a plurality of voters gave him a favorable rating last month’
