We are currently living in unprecedented times, as if the 1917 Spanish influenza, the 1929 Great Depression, and the civil unrest of the 1960s Civil Rights Movement were all happening at the same time in 2020. So, of course, what does the president have time to do on a Friday morning? If that president’s name is Donald Trump, he has time to tweet 68 times in just one hour.
Oh no, the Dems are worried again. The only one that can kill this comeback is Sleepy Joe Biden!

You do not advance peace by committing assault.
You do not advance justice by inflicting injustice upon your neighbors.
You do not promote the rule of law through anarchy.

Some of the tweets and retweets were more frustrating than outrageous. It’s lovely that farmers and schoolchildren are getting help with food during this virus. It’s fantastic that small businesses are getting loan forgiveness and extra time for rehiring. It’s great that stores of personal protective equipment (PPE) are being replenished and sent to those who need it. Of course, the virus should have never gotten as bad as it has, but at least some other people are actually trying to do something about it. The president may not be helping them much, but he’s retweeting, so he’s busy.
The tweets that should really make everyone’s blood boil are related more to the protest over the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police. No, there should not be violence against the police, but there should not be violence against anyone. The GOP talks a big game about protecting the police, but never about the police committing violence against people of color. They want to talk about how awful assault against the police are, but they haven’t yet excoriated Donald Trump for his assault against the American people, peaceful protesters, for a photo op. Images and video of police brutality throughout the protests are everywhere, but to hear the GOP tell it, everything is about how violent black protesters are.
Who cares about all of this, anyway, though? It’s National Beef Burger Day!
