President Donald Trump’s priorities remain squarely with complaining about his political opponents. This Thursday, he took to Twitter with an angry rant against the U.S. Supreme Court after they ruled in favor of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which the Trump administration had tried to end. Eventually, he even claimed that the Supreme Court needs “NEW JUSTICES,” suggesting that he’s contemplating trying to find some way to replace members of the court, whose appointments are supposed to be lifetime. An apparent threat of brazen court-packing does not bode well for the rule of law under Trump.
He tweeted:
‘The recent Supreme Court decisions, not only on DACA, Sanctuary Cities, Census, and others, tell you only one thing, we need NEW JUSTICES of the Supreme Court. If the Radical Left Democrats assume power, your Second Amendment, Right to Life, Secure Borders, and Religious Liberty, among many other things, are OVER and GONE!’
…Religious Liberty, among many other things, are OVER and GONE!

That is not true. Democrats are not trying to do away with the Second Amendment, and they’re not trying to do away with a right to life either. Trump is brazenly fearmongering and seemingly trying to essentially scare his supporters into voting for him. In other words, Trumpism yet again seems like a definite personality cult.
The Supreme Court found that white nationalist Stephen Miller’s attempt to end DACA was cruel and now illegal. He should resign immediately.

After the above, Trump went on to claim that the “DACA decision” is “a highly political one, and seemingly not based on the law.” It’s amazing that Trump is so self-obsessed that he believes that the upholding of a program by the U.S. Supreme Court is some kind of political plot.
He added:
‘As President of the United States, I am asking for a legal solution on DACA, not a political one, consistent with the rule of law. The Supreme Court is not willing to give us one, so now we have to start this process all over again.’
The DACA decision, while a highly political one, and seemingly not based on the law, gives the President of the United States far more power than EVER anticipated. Nevertheless, I will only act in the best interests of the United States of America!

What on earth does he think that the U.S. Supreme Court does? He seems to be implying that a legal solution could be found elsewhere, as if the entire point of the court isn’t to determine legal solutions. There’s not some “political” play by the Supreme Court — the Trump administration’s decision to try and upend DACA did not follow the law.

First thing the anarchists did upon taking over Seattle was “BUILD A WALL”. See, I was ahead of our times!

It was not Ambassador Lighthizer’s fault (yesterday in Committee) in that perhaps I didn’t make myself clear, but the U.S. certainly does maintain a policy option, under various conditions, of a complete decoupling from China. Thank you!
