Apparently, some ads run by Democratic groups targeting the president are getting to him. This Friday morning, Donald Trump tried to provide some kind of rebuttal to recent Democratic ads, but he came across as just spouting more nonsense in an attempt to try and distract voters from the truth of what the Democrats have been saying. He claimed, for instance, that Democrats “have done NOTHING for years,” which is objectively false. From the Affordable Care Act in the early days of the Obama presidency to the hundreds of bills that the current Democrat-led House has passed and the Republican-led Senate has ignored, Democrats have, in fact, done a lot while Trump’s been rage-tweeting.
He posted:

Why are the Democrats allowed to make fake and fraudulent ads. They should be called out. They did nothing when they had the chance. I have done FAR more than any President in first 3 1/2 years!

If he protects pre-existing conditions, then why has his administration attempted to end the Affordable Care Act — including its protections for people with pre-existing conditions — with no replacement ready to go? His administration joined a court case against the ACA. In short, Trump is lying when he claims to “protect pre-existing conditions” — Trump has repeatedly seemed ready to ignore the acute, life-saving health care needs of people with those conditions.
And for the umpteenth time — the money that the U.S. makes from tariffs on Chinese goods is not coming from China, which is seemingly the claim that Trump is referring to with his insistence that China is paying big money to the U.S. Tariffs are frequently paid by the importer — meaning that it’s U.S. firms trying to do business who are doing the paying. As Reuters explains, tariffs “are paid by U.S.-registered firms to U.S. customs for the goods they import into the United States.” Trump, who consistently claims otherwise, appears brazenly incompetent.
