Enthusiasm for getting Donald Trump out of office seems to be very high. With her advocacy organization When We All Vote, former First Lady Michelle Obama has been working to help Americans funnel that anti-Trump enthusiasm into voting. The organization has been responsible for programs like voting registration drives around the country, and this Monday, Obama shared an article featuring a discussion that she had with writer Shonda Rhimes about the importance of voting. She also shared a link with her 15.8 million followers where they can get registered to vote in time for November.
‘Loved talking to my friend @shondarhimes about @WhenWeAllVote and the importance of voting in every election. Your voice is your vote, so make sure you and everybody you know is registered and ready: http://whenweallvote.org/register’

President Trump and his allies consistently seem diametrically opposed to the prospect of Americans having their voices be heard. On Monday, Trump himself brought back up his unhinged, completely reality-disconnected conspiracy theories about the supposed potential of mail-in voting to turn into a hotbed for voter fraud. There’s no evidence that the expansion of mail-in voting would lead to some kind of massive fraud — in fact, it’s already used at a high rate across the country. In the last two federal elections, around one out of every four Americans cast a mail-in ballot, in fact.
Yet, Trump has proceeded with his conspiracy theories anyway. On Monday, he tweeted:
‘RIGGED 2020 ELECTION: MILLIONS OF MAIL-IN BALLOTS WILL BE PRINTED BY FOREIGN COUNTRIES, AND OTHERS. IT WILL BE THE SCANDAL OF OUR TIMES!’

That claim has no relationship to reality — at all. The mail isn’t all of a sudden some kind of bastion of deviance just because Trump refuses to acknowledge the realities of election security in the United States.
This is false. Ballots aren’t just printed on computer paper. They are specific paper weights and types and generally are sold by a small handful of companies. The amount of information required – and the time and access – would require a conspiracy of insane magnitude. https://t.co/gHTM8QUrx7
