Trump Spazzes Into 2nd Morning Meltdown & Claims ‘RIGGED’ Presidency

President Donald Trump doesn’t exactly seem enthusiastic about the possibility of losing the general election this November. Although there’s no evidence to support his claims, he seems convinced that mail-in voting is some kind of plot to “rig” the election — although many states have been using large quantities of mail-in ballots for years. In fact, estimates suggest that one out of every four Americans cast a mail-in ballot in 2016, because absentee and other forms of mail-in voting are widely available. In a Monday morning Twitter meltdown, Trump sounded convinced that this ordinary method of people casting their ballots was some kind of plot against him.

He tweeted:

‘Because of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, 2020 will be the most RIGGED Election in our nations history – unless this stupidity is ended. We voted during World War One & World War Two with no problem, but now they are using Covid in order to cheat by using Mail-Ins!’

There is no evidence for the president’s claims. Besides — neither World War One nor World War Two were communicable diseases, so why exactly does he bring up that people voted in-person during those particular crises? Much of the drive behind recent expansions of mail-in voting has come from concerns about the spread of the Coronavirus at polling places. Trump has dismissed concern about the Coronavirus, though, having long since congratulated himself for a supposed job well done in responding to the disease, although over 120,000 Americans are dead.

It’s difficult to overstate how disconnected from reality that the president really is. There is no evidence supporting his claim that mail-in voting provides for some kind of widespread voter fraud — no evidence. Mail-in voting is done on a routine basis in many states around the country. Trump sounds paranoid about some of these basic facts — including the fact that many Americans want nothing to do with him, and if they get to freely vote, he may end up out of office.
