President Donald Trump is an astoundingly petty individual. This week, the United States is facing crises like a dramatic spike in Coronavirus cases, but what’s he concerned about? He’s concerned about whether people on television are nice enough to him, of course. This Thursday morning, he rushed to Twitter after a Fox News segment containing some commentary that he did not like, and he complained about what the network’s guest had said. He got into such detail that he complained that the guest claimed that a Bible he’d been holding during a June 1 photo op had been upside down, but, put simply: who cares? Americans have things to worry about other than the president’s injured ego!

He tweeted:

‘A @FoxNews commentator just ripped me with lies, with nobody defending. They talked about the “friendly” protesters (they set the Church on fire the day before. They were anything but friendly), and how I stood and held the Bible upside down – it wasn’t upside down. @edhenry’

He added:

‘The Fake News and phony Fake Suppression Polls have never been worse. The Lamestream Media has gone CRAZY!’

What a ridiculously useless excuse for a president. Does Trump think that it’s the job of Fox News for someone to always be there, ready to defend his every whim? While yes, it is true that there’d been a brief, small fire at St. Johns Church the day before authorities attacked protesters outside the White House — which is the incident to which Trump is referring — it’s simply bad-faith nonsense for Trump to suggest that one person or a small group of people starting a fire means that every protester in D.C. was suddenly “anything but friendly,” or whatever. Trump sounds like he felt threatened by the overwhelmingly peaceful protesters.

Americans are sick of him — as of Thursday morning, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden led by 10 percent in national-level polls, according to RealClearPolitics, and he also led in key swing states including Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania.
