Pelosi Exposes Trump On ‘ABC Sunday’ Over Putin Bounty Scandal

A recent report in The New York Times dropped the bombshell that Russian authorities were apparently offering bounties to Afghan militants if they killed coalition forces — including Americans — who are in Afghanistan. Although the White House has denied that the president knew, that same New York Times report claimed that President Donald Trump had already been briefed on the matter, although he has never let up with his rhetorical fealty to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who Trump even wants to have rejoin the G7 group of world leaders, which would turn it back into the G8. During an appearance on ABC’s This Week over the weekend, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) harshly condemned Trump for his relentless pro-Putin behavior.

Pelosi commented:

‘This is as bad as it gets, and yet the president will not confront the Russians on this score, denies being briefed — whether he is or not, his administration knows, and some of our allies who work with us in Afghanistan have been briefed and accept this report. Just as I’ve said to the president, with him, all roads lead to Putin. I don’t know what the Russians have on the president, politically, personally, financially, or whatever it is, but he wants to ignore — he wants to bring them back into the G8 despite the annexation of Crimea and invasion of Ukraine, despite what they yielded to him in Syria, despite his intervention into our election, which is well-documented by our intelligence community.’

Watch below:

The Trump administration has claimed that the president actually was not briefed about the alleged Russian bounties on American troops, but if that’s true — why not? Direct targeting of members of the military is a big deal. Pelosi suggested that if the president really wasn’t briefed, then those who prepare intelligence and security briefings for the president might be actively trying to avoid discussing Russia with him.

A similar issue has arisen before — after reports emerged claiming that the president had been repeatedly warned about the Coronavirus threat well before it reached pandemic proportions in the U.S., the Trump administration claimed that Trump had not actually been warned that far ahead of the pandemic. If that’s true — then why wasn’t he? It was a major threat! What do Trump and his associates do all day — watch television?

During her appearance on ABC this weekend, Pelosi also addressed issues like the Coronavirus pandemic. She criticized the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for refusing to issue a nationwide mandate for mask-wearing out of potential fear of the president, and, asked how to fix the situation, she added:

‘We can fix it by passing the HEROES Act… it’s time for this administration to take this seriously. As Dr. Fauci said, we have a serious problem ahead.’

Trump and his allies have consistently tried to congratulate themselves for a supposed job well done in responding to the pandemic, but the virus outbreak is spreading majorly in significant swaths of the country. Many states have recently hit record case and hospitalization levels — the cases, for instance, have been going up in Florida, Texas, and elsewhere, and hospitalizations have been significantly spiking in places like Texas and Arizona.
